Driving Theory Test

You can book your theory test either online here or by calling 0300 200 1122. After you have booked you will be given a confirmation letter/email with your booking number, You should receive this within 10 days.

Your theory test consists of 2 parts and is screen based

Part 1 is Multiple Choice:
50 questions and several possible answers will appear, you will have to choose the correct one.

After completing you are then allowed a three minute break before starting Part 2

Pass Mark = 43 out of 50

Part 2 is Hazard Perception:
You will firstly be shown an example question so you know what to expect. You will then be shown a series of 14 video clips, where they will contain 15 developing hazards. In one of the clips it will feature two developing hazards.
(A hazard is a situation in which you have to take action early by either changing speed or direction)

Pass Mark = 44 out of 75

If you pass you will receive a certificate (keep it safe as you will need this throughout the rest of your driving) Your theory test pass certificate only lasts for 2 years.
