How to Start Driving

Driving licences are issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), you may apply for your provisional licence up to 3 months before your 17th Birthday but it is not valid until you are 17.

If you are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) which is at the high rate you may apply for your provisional driving licence 3 months before your 16th Birthday but again this is not valid until you are 16.

Provisional Driving Licence application forms may be obtained from your local post office and sent off through post, alternatively you can fill in an online application from the DVLA website. At the DVLA website you will obtain the correct information on costs and requirements on completing your application form.

As a beginner it is a natural feeling to be nervous about driving. As your instructor I will help you to get over your anxieties and put you at ease. I will start you on a quiet, out of the way road for your first lesson. You will be introduced to the controls of the car and Yes you will drive on your first lesson.
